Yellowstone National Park

In this post, we gonna learn about the geography of Yellowstone. Yellowstone is a water source in the upstream of Rocky mountains. Yellowstone is a national park in Wyoming, America.

It covers an area of 3,472 square miles (8,987 square kilometers ) that is made up of various geothermal features like geysers, as well as mountains, lakes, canyons, and rivers.

Yellowstone is in the crater of the biggest active volcano. The diameter of the crater is 45 miles across (72.4205 kilometers).

To find when the last eruption occurred, scientists found a thin layer of ashes in California that matches with the ashes found in Yellowstone. So they dated the soil layer and found that the ashes arrived 640,000 years ago which marked the date of Yellowstone’s super eruption.

In April 2006, geologists used hot structure diagrams to visualize what happened under the crater.
